ok so i have a buddy who wants to start racing his raptor...so i think sweet. but hes like yea i want to put some a-arms, shocks, axle and a swingarm on it. so he finds this deal on ebay for a +6 swingarm and an axle for it... now me being in the mx scene for 3+ yrs immediatly told him not to do it and it is for drag racing.....so any help with what length is the best for the old style raptor for mx.

i think a plus 1.5 or a plus 2 is the best.

how do you think a +4 would do on the track?

It would work, but it's alittle long. It may make it turn to slow. I personally wouldn't go over a +2 unless your going drags. Thats just my opinion though.

i love to hill climb, how much of a difference to steering will it make?

If your doing more hill climbing then MX then you'll probably love the extra length. Honestly, I do not know how much of a difference a +4 would be over a +2.

wtf is that?? lol

idk about mx but i have a shorter swingarm for tt, it helps for traction.

I would like to know what yamaha was thinking when they built the 660 raptor. I mean it has the best power all around, but lol it is narrow and very tall lol.

I got +2 a-arms and it is like night and day on the handling on the raptor.

450r1, your thread has been officially jacked.

i believe running forward arms actually puts more weight on the rear, longer swinger more weight on the front... so for hill climbs you wouldnt want a forward a-arms. basically, take what you do, and create a balance of all of the parts that you put on. for example, i do mx, but i also ride in the woods, and do recreational riding. so, i have an +2 swinger. i can keep it down easier, better holeshots, but still turns in nicely. i run +2 +1 arms, sort of balances the +2 swinger out so i get good traction, stability, and i can deal with it on trails. and i have an +4 axle, good stability, matches the front +2 arms, and matches what i decided to do.
