I weight 130 lbs and ride a 300ex. When I go off jumps my stock suspension bottoms out. I was wondering what type of Works shock should I get. Should I get front or rear suspension first?

well you should definetly get front suspension first, thats usually what bottoms, you can only get dualrates for the fronts, i ordered mine from denniskirk and paid $315 last year but there's other places you could find it cheaper, i didnt get resivors but thats like another $150 but they make them last longs

I have a set on my 300 but they didnt seem to keep strong very long, like 8 months, and its like $150 to get them rebuilt, if i were you i'd get the recreational elkas, i think they're around $500 but i'm not sure, i've heard nothing but good things about them, call the quadshop up, they have good shock deals

Just a thought, did you try adjusting the stock shocks? When I 1st got mine I was bottoming out all the time THEN I realized that the dealer had the shocks set on the lowest setting. I knocked them up a bunch of notches and I don't bottm out nearly as much. This may help you out until you get new ones.

You can get AT STEELER shocks from Works performance. they cost about 350 work great.

to adjust the stock shocks you just trun that little coller thing on the bottom of the shock and it will make the springs harder or softer depending on where thyre set. i did my rear shock today and it dont bottom half as easy as it did.

guys stop given companies, i have a 300ex and i way 150, i have never bottomed out, just set our back shock setting to a higher level, if u cant, bring it to a dealer and tell them to, but there is no reason that u cant adjust them now

I found out a cool trick. Take your rear shock out, and put it back in upside down :) it makes it as easy as adjusting your fronts. Get ya a pipe wrench, or VERY big visegrips and jsut turn it :)

If it means anything... I weigh just over 200 pounds, and found the dual rate front Works shocks work night and day over the stockers. I still have the stocker rear.... And I actually feel it is still worth keeping the stock.

If you are going to be jumping your 300ex... I recommend getting aftermarket shocks just for the reason how much stonger the aftermarket ones are out there, much stronger than the stockers! I am not the only one that went out on a ride only to have it cut short due to a broken front stocker shock!

Good luck jumping!

yep, same thing happened to me EX'r. I was going to have a big day of riding with some of my friends, until i hit one of my doubles and i heard something pop really loud, Guess what it was.

Let me guess.... The bottom mount of the shock broke off of the shock body??

Anyway, looking at the design of the stocker has some weak points. Again, if you are going to be doing jumps... I highly recommend front aftermarket shocks.

Sorry to hear it happend to you too 01_300ex!:( There is just no replacing that lost day of riding, is there!

get the works fronts without rezzys triple rates and valving for mx works likes to run there shocks a little light if your a rec rider thats a night and day difference especially for the buck.the rear either bump up the spring or send it out to works for the heart transplant thats another budget mod that works great
