Some people have told me that you dont really have to use your clutch while up shifting but when you down shift you do. Other people have told me the exact opposite. Somebody tell me whats right? thanks

****z, When I'm racing and get arm pump I don't use the clutch for up-shifting or down-shifting. If you control the rpm's when shifting then your fine. My clutch lasted for 1 and a half race seasons and practicing before it started slipping.

except hills jumps stopping and starting. i hardly ever use my clutch to shift. no matter if im racing, or casually riding. obvioulsy if your wide open you cant just start to shift but if you have the engine in the right rpm's it will shift smooth as a hot razr through butter. my 450s an 04 and i i never had any problems with gears,or shift forks.

You will want to use your clutch to down shift. To up shift lift off the throttle, shift and then roll back on to the throttle. If you just jam gears you will grind the gears and bend the shift levers. EXPENSIVE!!
