Ya 10w 40 is pretty good, thats what i run in the winter then i switch to 20w 50 for summer. They have hondalube or yamalube which is prolly best but super expensive like 6 dollars a quart. So pennzoil probably ain't to bad, i just run valvoline performance oil or something like that. And as for filter its 7 dollars at the yamaha dealer where i am, but i can get em for 4 at walmart so if you can find it at walmart thats your best bet. Hope this was helpful.

Go to a synthetic oil 10w-40 wieght. Synthetic is MUCH better for your motor when it comes to cold weather starts do to the additives in it. I get my filters from GT Thunder for about $4 a peice so the stealership is rippen you off....:ermm: Imagine that..

You will pay more for synthetic but your buying a much better oil. Honda and yamalube is so expensive because the names on the bottle probably costs $5 then you get a bucks worth of crappy oil...:eek2:

Ya i rode with that stuff for a while, but then i was like jeez this much money and its not even worth it. So i said screw it and went with like 2-3 dollar quarts of oil. And it works still the same if not better.

Exactly. If your hell bent on election to run a petroleum oil then go buy the cheapest crap you can find.
