I really was trying to buy the 2005 450r cause i wanna have a kickstart....the 2006 has limited of the kick very hard to find them. I was told by sales the kick start could be afixed to the 2006 motor is it true????? Seem like there has been some changes to the 450r 06' year from the 05' year...suspension,carbur,performance clutch ------electric start adds 7pds to the bike--doesn't sound like alot but if u add all the little add ons it adds up.

06, is not going to smoke 05, simply gotta do small adjustment on the 05 to make it even again...

By small adjustment do u mean carb, piston, swingarm, linkage, rear shock n some other small things?

i cant speak for anyone else who has an 06 but if had mine since october and i love it.havent had any starting problems at all.im sticking with it.
as far as weight goes, your crazy if you think your going to feel the 7 pounds added by the e start.no way.

I've had mine(06 er) for about 3 weeks, 3 rides and it is simply awesome.
I went from a nice 400ex with lots of goodies to a stock 450r and its like everyday the sun shines brighter.
The motor is almost too good.
It is way faster than an equally stock 04 and I'm sure the 05's is the same.
I'm going to give hell tomorrow for the first time, been easy on her first 3 rides.
Mine is set pretty lean box stock.
That's what makes them hard to start.
It gets great mileage too.

Salesman will tell you anything to get you to buy a bike if they work on a commision :p

We just had a new 450ER come in with a worn out starter clutch already :D Still love my '04

Rite ,rite... these salespeople got these riders convince the 06 trx450r is a hugh improvment from the 04-05......wish i made his commision .......... 04 450r maybe a slight better than the 05 due to the stronger crankshaft.... anyways i betcha i could beat all 450r 2006 on my 250r Atc on track or on a 50 yard dash. kk

ATC=Three wheeler=Lighter and quicker
Does have an advantage in a 50 yard or whatever drag.
Put them on the trail or track and eat dirt 70's boy.

I am just wondering for all of you people trashing on the 06, have you rode one yet? If not, i probably wouldn't be ragging on it IMO.

I say get whatever starting method you prefer. Some have had a few problems with the electric start, but all around there will be many that have none. I think you will be happy with either. I am getting the ER in about 2 weeks.

I havent rode an '06 but want to .. my local dealer had no '06 kickers even on order, so I took an '05 and am totally lovin it .. my last bike was a lightly modded blaster, so I guess it depends what yer used to .. If the '06 whips the '05 it must be a real handful ..

See ATV Action gave the '06 a p*ss poor review against the YFZee again ... no pleasing some people ... i will never go back to Yam again ...
