loose cam chain sound like valves?

If I just checked the valve clearance and it still ticks pretty loud could the cam chain be streching and slapping around?
How do you know if a vlave is going bad? Feels like it has full power and good throttle responce just kinda noisy.

What year do you have?? I have a 99 and my valve seats were all messed up and i need to have them reground and add shims!! Now that i have it back together it still sounds like crap and gets worse with a hard ride and dealer said that everything is ok!! I need to find a new dealer!!
