Devore, CA – The ATVA MX Nationals are set to begin with practice starting today at Glen Helen for over 400 entries and possibly reaching the 500 mark by tomorrow morning.

The LT-R450 was released to the public just in time to be an eligible machine to compete on in the opening round of the motocross nationals, and Doug Gust & Jeremiah Jones were busy making their final adjustments. Also, several media publications were signing up their test riders to compete in this weekend’s event. Unfortunately, I scratched myself from this list, which allowed a local ATV racer to be able to acquire the Blingstar Nerf Bars from my Quadracer, which are required to race along with a kill-cord. These two add-ons are all that is required to prepare a Suzuki LT-R450 to race in the Nationals.

Team Suzuki/Yoshimura Sponsor, Blingstar, produced the aluminum products from race team including the mandatory nerfbars. Blingstar’s own Freddie Sheppard was on hand to make sure everything was running smoothly for the Suzuki Team and their lineup of ATVs prepared for the media to race this weekend.

Doug Morris, ATVA President, even took a spin on the new Suzuki LT-R450 QuadRacer on the Back Track at Glen Helen, and I must say that I was surprised how well he rode, and he even wasted no time doubling a few of the jumps on the track

The opening round attracted racers from all over the USA and even some racers from other countries including Canadian Pro Champion Richard Pelchat and even Luke Beechey from the down under. Also, in attendance was Richard Cole and some of his riders from the United Kingdom.

Some ATV Racers may not have traveled as far, but they sure had to improvise to make it to the event, which is what I call determination!

The Pits around the track were filling up and many relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful weather with temps in the 80's and it is expected to remain this way for the entire weekend, which is a welcome change from last year.

The Pro Class has 28 Entries and the Pro Am Production has a huge 37 entries.

Also, Tire Balls is offering arider contigency program to all ATVA MX Racers, so be sure to visit their website for more details because riders that haven't even purchased Tire Balls yet are eligible to receive Tire Ball Bucks just for signing up for the program.

Elka’s new support manager will be none other than Jay Gobel as he will now be traveling to both the MX and XC Nationals for Elka, but don’t worry, Jay is also still actively involved with Maxxis, but Jeff will now be driving the Maxxis Rig for Jay Goebel.

More details on this transition for Jay Gobel and the Elka Support Rig will be released shortly.

Also, the MX Nationals will once again be aired on Television on the OLN Channel, and none other than Johnny Gallagher made the trip out to California to watch the race with his good friend Bill Ballance.

Ofcourse he was available for comment, but he conveniently forgot to wear his pink skirt to the race this weekend:devil:

Michelle Reiser practiced today, but she could barely walk after blowing out her knee in Texas a couple of weeks ago, and she will most likely required surgery. Also, Josh Creamer reportedly broke his wrist recently and will not be competing this weekend, which was another huge disappointment, and I wish these pair a speedy recovery

With over 30 Pro Entries, there were two Pro Qualifiers and a LCQ to narrow the Pro field down to 20 riders.

In the first LCQ, there was a pileup in the first turn, which involved Donald Lysinger, Jeremy Lawson, and Trent Kandel

Admin
02-08-2006, 08:33 AM
Pat Brown would lead the race till the end of the first lap, but ran into an issue which dropped him back a few positions.

Admin
02-08-2006, 08:36 AM
Dana Creech would then take over the lead until his kill cord came out heading into the whoops, which allowed Joe Haavisto and Matt White to pass him.

The Precision Racing Products Steering Dampeners are popping up on all the machines at the Nationals, and I didn't see a single GPR stabilizer.

I still haven't personally had the chance to ride with one, but everyone I talked to swore it was the best thing they ever added to there ATV. All we need to do now is talk PRP into lowering the price a little, so everyone can afford one of these units.

Thanx Tina, this was Chase's first Nat'l and I wasn't able to be there, so mentally he made a couple mistakes in the main and was T-boned in the transition area from going up Mt. St. Helens on the first lap. He was bummed but since he is only 9 we have a couple more years at it. The funny thing is out of everything he could breaked... he broke one of my composite fiber tie rods that I make. But he also did fold the inside of the front rim... which was a first for him.
