I READ ON HERE OF GUYS USING A 450 R TIMING CHAIN IN PLACE OF THE STOCK 400 EX CHAIN. I BOUGHT THE 450 CHAIN AND IT IS TWO LINKS LARGER THAN THE 400 EX CHAIN SO MY TENSIONER WILL NOT TAKE UP THAT MUCH SLACK

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF A DIFFERENT TENSIONER OR A DIFFERENT CHAIN GUIDE IS NEEDED TO USE THIS CHAIN? I WOULD APPRECIATE ANYONES INPUT AS THIS IS HOLDING ME UP ON FINISHING THIS THING.

the (dirtbike) 2002 crf450 timing chain is the one that fits in the 400ex. It has the same number of links and is much beefier. I just installed one on my 400ex and it works great.
