This weekend we worked on trying to sort out some of the starting issues with the 06 450. Ours starts well when cold and also starts pretty well when hot most of the time but it is that one time in the woods that you kill it and it cranks and cranks before starting. I installed a 40mm fcr with a hot start curcuit to see if it would make hot starting any better ( since the 450x comes with a hot start) But to my suprise it made it start even harder when hot. Just thought someone needed to try it and now we know

My 06 does have a hot start circuit in the carb its just automatic.maybe you know this allready and are just trying a manual one, if so thanks for trying the other carb for us.:D and letting us in on the results.:)

thanks for trying that i had really wondered about that!, mine has the problem too, mine starts fine cold but if u stall it hot its dang near impossible to start, i pry lost 2 mins at a race this weeked try'n to get it cranked after i stalled it 2 or 3 times.. once right at the barrels.. man i betcha them people behind me were pi#$ed.. lol but like for a dead engine start if you warm it up good, then shut it off for 1-2 mins it fires almost instantly.. my stepdad suggested mabye the coil was getting hot and breaking down.. ? i dunno just throwing stuff out there to look at..?

I don't know who told you that it has an automatic hot start but they are completely wrong. The stock carb on the 06 450er has a choke and throttle postion sensor thats it.

Has anyone tried the 05 carb on a 06 yet? Not sure of the wiring differences.

I know when on the Mx track it starts right up, but when trail riding if you stall it it takes 10 turnovers about to get r goin again

The wiring for the 04/05 carb is the same as the 06 but the filter boot is alot bigger on the 04/05 and the carb is alot longer

MY BAD sorry for that I must have been high when I(thought) I read that some were in my manual:( :) I did put a 45 pilot in mine and ever since it has always started great even after a stall in the woods on a hill.Maybe just lucky so far.

Off topic but

Colby have you noticed the 06 motor sits further outside the frame on the brake side? I tried putting my 05 brake lever on and it will not fit at all. The motor is out at least a 1/4" and the lever hits the cover.

Also the Master cylinder is different than the 04-05 bikes, cant swap over ANY brake levers. Its different at the perch.

Shawn how do you the kick start 06 I thought I heard you got yours?

Shawn the motor seems to be wider because of the right side case being deeper for the electric start components. As for the front master cylinder I haven't notice the lever change but good point.

Yea I got it:cool:

Starts very Quickly and Easily,Much easier than my 04 or 05 bikes...

It has a Hot start too
The motor is to the right on the Kicker too so it cant be just for the Electric Start Components
