cam chain tensioner modification

Has anyone made a manual adjust cam chain tensioner. I heard you can run a bolt through it and put a jam nut on the outside, but I'm not sure how much of the "guts" to leave inside. Any help would be appreciated.

you can buy them off of e-bay. it replaces the whole assembly with a new manual one. Why do you want to go to a manual adjuster, just adds to your pre ride maintenece list.
