i just got my 400 back from the shop. they said

No Compression
Leak on the Intake
Possibly Jumped Timing
Oil is grey, comtamination

he said to check the piston is its cracked, the cam chain, cam tensioner and i cant remember what else

WOULD IT BE MORE SENSIBLE TO HAVE IT FIXED OR BUY A USED ENGINE FROM SOMEBODY OFF THIS WEBSITE?

if you have one for a reasonable price let me know im not about to get myself into that kind of repair job

fix it, really not that much to fix unless your rod or crank is junk. you could fix it for under $500 if you do the work. or you could buy a motor and h\use yours for spare parts.

Before you junk the motor / tear it apart:

Purchase/Borrow a LEAK DOWN TESTER. you will need shop air.
If not, have a honda dealer do a leak down test for 1 hour labor ($70.) This will tell you where the problem is whether it's valve(s), or bore/piston.

:D
