Try looking at some aftermarket plastic companies like meier, laker or fullbore. Maybe you will like the look of those more than the stock plastic.

If you dont like the way it looks, dont buy it. I dont understand why people are still hung up on the 250R with so many great quads out there to be had. Embrace this new technology, it is only growing the sport. I like 2 strokes too, but I love the 4 strokes.

yes! it is possible, anything is possible with enough fabrication and fitment

all you will need to do is weld new mounting tab that will bolt up to the plastics to make them look even on the chassis

As of right now, Ive only set on 250r components on the 450r, and measure and picture what i need to make. And as of right now im making drawings of a subframe id need to make OR how to modify the stock subframe. Its actually very simple and fairly easy because the 450r has twin widly spread apart main frame tubes very similar to a 250r.

Yfz's look lean and mean stock. And 450rs look great.....except for the front nose peace. But in my oppinnion, when you put a hood on it, from lets say Fullbore, Laker custon, or quad tech its one of the best looking right up there with the yfz and others.

WOW, thats pretty sweet, one good thing about the 450r front fenders over the 250r is you can walk front tires for "HILL BILLY REVERCE".

HAHAH Hillbilly Reverse thats hilarious!

I would say a 250R kit would be awesome, and very doable.
Walsh did it with the Cannondale with great success.

The biggest advantage was the lower seat heigth. Which will not be realized on the 450r unless you make a subframe with lower mounts. Which will lower the air box which we know already has problems hitting the swingarm when a longer travel shock is applied.

The problem is, Quads these days are almost throw away to any serious racer. Which IMO is better than spending 20k on a racer and keeping it for more than one season.

Maybe if enough of you guys call up walsh he will make up a Kit for you. He did an awesome job on my Cannondale Kits.

I bilieve that picture of the trail tech 450r is with fullebore plastics....if im not mistaken. And the fullbore plastics are very catchy and still use lights.....sweet. In my oppinnion the yfz has become boring and ive seen it too much. Also, its possible on any quad, because doug gust ran 250r seat, and plastics on his z400 innhte 2002 or 2003 season, one of those two....

Thats what most might assume, but it wasnt square tubing frame..soo if it was it was aftermarket....and why would doug make a z400 motor conversion(suzuki dirtbike 400 motor) into a 250r frame when he had a brand new already made one from suzuki out for sale????......im betting it was the z400 with a custom one off 250r conversion kit.

I think the bike gust used to ride was a Walsh 250r chassis with the suzuki motor in it, acctually i know it was, its in the nac's catalog, and on the cover of the old nacs catalog

he rode the over a regular Z400 because there wernt production classes back then, and 250r geometry over z400 geometry?????

im thinkin 250r

I was never shure...because i couldnt come to think of why in teh world ANYONE would go through the hassle of a conversion...to use a z400 motor...or in this case...a drz400.....especially when teh honda and yamaha motors were out....but he prolly had his reasons....

Because he was getting motors and a little support from Suzuki, thats why.

They were trying to pave the way for the Z-400 which they were working on at the time.

The bike was a Full Walsh chassis, with 250R Geometry, and the Z-400 dirt bike engine, tuned by TC racing.

Mainly because a modded 250R will eat a 450R for breakfast, and because there bottom ends don't fail after two seasons of hard riding

Well what you should have really said for a certain amount of money a 250r will eat a 450r.....but overall with staying in AMA pro mx limits the 450r will have a better overall power spread. But its very true that 450r's cranks fail after two seasons, its mainly the aluminum(BAD MOVE HONDA!!!) thrust washers in the crank come to pieces!!!...it happens to anyone who has put two good hard seasons on them,. And if you havnt had this happen to you dont brag, because that emans your not riding hard enough!!! :blah: But a falicon racing crank solves the two year crank failure on the 450r.
