I just bought a 2002 400ex, and I just finished breaking it in..so now I want to get the oil and filter changed. My question is....are their "good brands" of oil filters....or will anyone be a good one? I went to the local shop, and they carry one called "EMGO"...would this be good? I don't want to stick junk on my quad...so if theres a better one to use...then I want that one :D I know this may be a stupid question, but I am new to 4-strokes and I don't know much about them ;)

emgo works just fine. that's what i've always used and haven't had any problems with them breaking down and they seem to filter good.

If you can, check out the specs or "Micron Ratings" of the filter; you want a filter that filters or removes particles from your oil down to less than 20 microns because 80% of all engine wear is caused by particles greater than 20 microns. Some of the filters allow particles to flow thru the filter freely up to about 40 microns; that's not good. The sad part about it, some of them are the high-dollar, name-brand filters.

I'll tell you what I use but you have to make the choice for yourself what you use. I can give you the facts, test results so you can make an informed decision. Thanks.
