well make a list of what all you are doing and price it out.
it does make a huge differance if you do it yourself. if i was closer i would come and give ya a hand but its a little ways to go.

I'd say 500 sounds reasonable, provided you know it's going to get done right?

He's a mechanic and a racer, and has a guy who repairs quads for a living helping him out, all i have to pay is any parts it may need, and i get them cheap. and it will be under 500

Hello, Ex'In_Alberta

I understand you want to rebuild your EX. Honda quoted me $1500 for a new top end and that's with parts & labor. If you can get it for $500 first make sure they are a reputable builder. The final and total cost of the project is hard to map out at this point because you don't really know what will need replacing yet. If you plan to do a complete top end, you will spend probably $500 or more.

Doing it yourself will save much time and money, and provides a good learning experience for you. Get a clymer's manual if you wish to do so, or have one for any small repair. Hope this helps.

hey mike. thanks alot for the info......the guy doing the repairs works with and is a good friend of a friend of mine and will be doing oth of our at the same time. so he is reputable that way, and for parts he says he can do better than any store can do for price.

well i have this here i might as well ask aswell, if you do a 416 kit can you do it with out a cam replacement and valves and all that, cause he says if my rings and sleve need to be done he can get me a 416 kit close to the same as stock for price, and it will run fine with the factory cam and all that stuff

Yes, it will run fine. The 416 is basically an over sized piston. You will need to bore, and hone the cylinder for this.

$280 include the honing and the piston and rings along with rejet.
