NO....probably a bad float needle causing your float to stick

If you've ever jetted your carb then you know how to fix it. Take the float bowl off of the carb and make sure that the float slides are clean and the float needle is clean and there's no dirt in there. Blow it out with an air hose and put it back together.

BUMP

it only does this when the gas is ON, it doesnt leak when its off

Then it's your float. Check to make sure everything's clean and make sure it's adjusted right.

in ur carb there is a flat head screw on the bottom, loose that let it loose for 8 sec tight it back and the leak will stop that happens to my friend's quad one time.

Yes it would, it wouldn't do any good if it's your float valve sticking. Have you tried tapping the float bowl with something hard like a screw driver? Sometimes that can knock the float loose.

I'm thinking it may work in some instances. When the fuel is drained the floats drop down enough to free them from what ever is causing them to stick. Not much different than tapping on the bowl with the handle of a screw driver.

Just a theory;)

take the float bowl off and clean it all... move the float up and down by hand but be gentle with it and put it back together

How much do you rock it, if you ever noticed that when you put it up on the grab bar that gas leaks out so it dosent get flooded when on a hill or wheele. if you are just nudging it there is probally tarnish in your carb that makes the floats stick like everyone elce is saying. run some injector cleaner through it and see what that does.

Unless it is dripping constantly with the gas on, it's not a sticking float. If it is only dripping when you rock it, your float level is probably set way to high. Has anyone taken the carb apart recently?

nope, i just got it off today, do i take off the one big bolt in the bottom or the 3-4 small screws to get to it?

and yah, i can stand on the pegs or stand next to it holding the handlebars and rock it back and forth and after a few seconds gas will start dripping out real fast. im hoping thats not normal, cuz that means gas must be dripping out all the time while riding trails and rough terrain

The only time i've ever had gas coming out of the over flow hose is when i do a wheelie or something.

Take out the 4 phillips screws, and be careful, they strip easily. It seems like either your float is sticking or it's set too high.

Do you have a manual? It should show you some pictures and a good description on how to adjust the float. Probably a much better job than I could do.
