In order to get to my carb do i really have to take off all my fenders and pull the gas tank?

or is there a better/faster way?

I just take the 17mm access cap off the bottom of the carb to change the main jet.....

Not sure on the 400 but on my 300 I can just loosen the clamps at both ends of the carb and rotate it some to change jets.

If your just rejetting it then just take off the 17mm cap like MB7 said. Then just take the jet out with a 6mm socket. It gets no simpler than that:)

you take of the bowl nut on the bottom of the carb and stick a deep well socket to fit the jet up in there and it will come out.

If you have small hands you can leave it not but if your like me you have to take it off. i can adjust the mixture screw an barely change the jet

The easiest way to get it back in with out dropping it is to get an extension for your 6mm socket and put the jet in it. Now feel around until you can start threading it back in, but go slow that way you dont accidentally cross thread.

But if you're adjusting the needle there really is no easier way then removing the gas tank and plastics to gain access to it.

well im gonna be rejetting for a new pipe, so will i just be changing jets or doing work with the needle?

you can leave the carb on to adjust. make sure you are turning correct direction and use a small screw driver. i use one that is about 2 inches long. looks like it was from a dollar store screw driver set or somethign you find at a flea market i dont know how have it.

and the kind of jet kit you get changes everything my kit is a dyno jet and it uses an adapter and a flat head jet

If you're making a big change like adding a pipe I'd highly suggest adjusting your needle also.

Im guessing that my biggun pipe with come with some basic jetting specs to start with?

for adjusting the needles, it similar to adjusting a carb on like a nitro RC car. adjust a half turn at a time?
