but i was wondering if any other year motors cases will fit and if i can just buy a big bore head for a 250r and it will fit it is watercooled and will run once i rebuild her it ran abourt 2 years ago then the cases cracked  so if anyone knows alot about 250r cases and cylinders please reply to this thread thanks

the 85 and 86 atc engines are all the same as the 86-89 quad. the only difference I believe is the cranks because the atc's had the short rod cranks.

85 and 86 trike motors are very similar to 86-89 trx motors. Most parts will interchange with no problems. Case are pretty much the same for all years besides color and the 87-89's were beefed up in the case saver mount. Trannys for 85 + 86 trikes and trx are the same, 87-89 have different 5th + 6th main + counter gears. All the rest of the tranny will interchange. Flywheels were lighter on 85 + 86 trike + trx but all will interchange, the wire plugs may be a little different though. Cranks for 85 + 86 trikes + trx were short rod style, 87- 89 were long rod, but all will interchange with the right setup, piston + spacer plate. Kickstarter setup on 85 trike is different from all years but will work with 89 clutch cover (or 85 cover). 86 + 87 trike + trx's kicker's and covers are different form 88 + 89 trx's. Cylinders for 85 + 86 had a large intake port while 87-89 had a bridged intake, all will interchange. Clutch presser plates were a little different between all years, do yourself a favor and get the 89 update kit ( presser plate, lifter, rod + needle bearing thrust washer). Thats pretty much it, hope this helps.

thanks alot so all i will really need for the motor is cases and a topend but i may go big bore with an aftermarket cylinder just because but if i buy new cases all my parts should just go in with no problems ? im not sure what year the motor is but iknow it is a trike motor and is watercooled i think they only made this setup fr 2 years or so but the parts should just fall in the new cases when i buy them correct ?

Cases for 85 - 89 will all interchange. Go to the honda shop and give them 85 case part #'s and I'm 95% sure the will superceed to 88 - 89 part #'s for case halfs. They are all pretty much the same, 87 - 89 are the best because honda beefed up the case saver mount area on the newer cases.

I think 88-89 cases will come without bearings, and 86-87 cases come with bearing allready installed.
