I am thinking of rebuilding my 400ex to a 426. What compression, cam, and other mods have you done? Why is your setup the best?? And, if you have had it dynoed what did it rate hp and torque??

ive got 11:1 426 piston and stage one hotcam with mine. not sure how fast it is yet since i put it back together sunday. we are hopin to get 40 horse out of it after gettin a carb on it. its got the same porting and cam as my dads 440 which is puttin out 40.4 with a keihin 39mm fcr carb. we also did the porting on both quads.

spud400ex how come u went with the stage 1 hotcam, arent they made for stock engines. i think the stage 2 or 3 would have been a much better choice since they are made to go with modified bores or strokes.

i put the cam in last year with just a 10:1 standard bore piston and it did alright. but when i went with the big bore i didnt have the money for a different cam so i stuck with what i had. i will be getting a hotter cam in the next month or two tho. not sure what tho.

11:1 JE piston, WB all aorund cam (Soon to get a stage 3 hotcam), choke removed, HMF pipe. Runs great, the cam is a great woods cam, power everywhere. just changeing cams to try something different.

let me know how that stage 3 works out. from what i hear, the stage 3 is the old stage 2 and the stage 2 is a little more aggressive than the stage 1 and less aggressive than the stage 3. that is just what i thought i may have read somewhere.
