Help on Linkage???

My question is what is the advantage of having a dual linkage for my long travel elka on my 450r instead of having just the one peice? any info would be much appreciated. thank you

Elka claims they could not achive the ratios they wanted with out changing both parts of the link.There linkage allows for more travel without loosing ground clearance
