My new FMF slip-on finally came in from being backordered today. I was really excited and went to install it but I cant get the stock muffler off. The FMF installation directions recomended that I spray the connection between the header and muffler with WD-40. I did that and it still wouldnt budge. So I sprayed it heavily and left it for an hour. I went back out and tried and it still wont move. So my question is how do I get the pipe to slide off???

I had that same problem you just have to yank hard.

You just need to try moving it in every direction.

Cutting Wheel.:D I never had that problem when i had my 400ex. I usually put some lube on to make sure that it would seperate.

My stock one was on pretty tight too. I just sprayed some penetrating lubricant on it and pulled. I found that twisting the muffler while pulling is the best way to break it loose.

just keep twisting it a lot and if you dont care about it you can hammer a screwdriver into the small gap or something like that and it will peel it back. Or if you have a dremel you can put a cut into it... just dont get into the header and then do the screwdriver thing. It will peel the metal back and come right off.

make sure the clamp is good & loose get a big pair of channel locks on it & start twisting spraying & give it a wack while twisting it it took me several minutes to get the muffler off mine

try heating it up with a torch to burn out any glue or adhesive and pull at the same time

Heat solves any sticky situation but a caring touch is needed
