06 EX400 or 06 Z400

hey im thinkin about gettin a 06 EX400 or a 06 Z400. which one should i get? i will be ridin with my friend who has a 04 EX400 some times on trails and on some tracks,and i dont want to be puttin top end in alot. what should i get?

i have a dvx400 it's great but go for one of the 450's, and if you want faster get the z400,kfx400,dvx400

The Z is better. it's the same price as the 400 ex i think and u can go faster and have better acceleration.

i would go with the Z dirt wheels did a shoot out and the Z wone in almost every teast. and the Z is liqued cooled

That's a question that involves no thinking.

Z400/KFX400/DVX400 by far.

Better suspension
Liquid cooled
Faster

It's a better quad, trust me.

had both, the z has liquid cooling, dohc, better suspension, and i'd rock an ex anyday over the z, feels liek your sittin on top of a truck to me, couldn't ever get comfortable on it... but thats just personal opinion, u said u rode a ex, find someonen with a z n ride it, see which one you like better, good luck with whatever you choose!

I have both and their both nice if you want top speed go for the z400 but if you want to ride better on tracks and trails get the 400ex and also the 400ex is quiker but a slower top speed. The 400ex is a perfect bike for the track but its all about the rider.

seriously...if anyone is buying a new 400...it doesnt make sense at all to get a 400ex. its pretty obvious that a z/kfx/dvx is a much better deal new. gettin used, get a 400ex........new, get a z/kfx/or dvx

DONT BUY THE NEW z400s!!! they have internal motor problems with the anti freeze eating the magnesium and ruining the motors... they are all tickin time bombs!

Yeah the z400 and clones that have magnesium covers the antifreeze eats the case! There are many pictures of it. One guy had a brand new one from the dealer, rode it 3 hours and pulled off the cover and you could already notice it! And at one dealership they pulled the cover off one that was just out of the crate and it already showed signs of erosion. The fix is to run a certain kind of antifreeze that doesn't eat the case. I think you have to run it straight. I think anyone would be crazy to buy a quad that has a history of frame problems and subframe problems and this for a little more topend when you can find a used 400ex for a great deal and build it the way you want and blow away any z's

after seeing countless Z' frames break, and the abundant other problems, all of my friends racing Z's have now switched to honda and yamaha..

i remember my friend being behind me on a big table, it was a OP so i landed and pulled off to the side to wait for him, to chat, i was watching him clear the table, and all the sudden i see his seat and fenders, and everything in the back just shift down, he stopped cause he was like WTF!!!!, and sure enough the sub frame was torn off.

I have both...a piped/jetted 02 400EX and a new 04 DVX400 all stock...the EX is strong but the DVX400 has it all over the Honda...sorry.I'm a true Honda fan and ride a CR500R but still the DVX400 is a clear winner.

2.Stronger motor by far up top.
3.Suspension is better outta the box
4.New style DOHC motor.
5.Liquid cooled
6.Brakes feel stronger.
7.Looks better
8.Seat is more comfy
9.More aftermarket coming

They are VERY similar when side by side but riding tthey are very different...The DVX/KFX/Z400 are very lean and should be bumped up right off the bat(jetting)...lots of power hidden with lean jetting.
