I always have 400EX style thumb trottle on my previous bikes and liked them, but now I bought a new 250R with the original thumb on it. I have just opened the cover of my thumb trottle and I saw all the system of lever inside. Is this a good system or just a bunch of crap? I haven't tryed it yet because the engine is apart.
I have a 450R for sale and I would like to know if a should take the thumb trottle on it and put it on my 250R or just let everything like this.

250R thumb throttles are great, it set up like that to hav a shorter stiffer pull to open the throttle.... i prefer the R throttle

my gf has a 400ex throttle on her blaster, she likes it better then the R throttle.

I tried a 400ex throttle on my R because I upgraded to a 38 pwk carb. With the stock R throttle the lever was pretty stiff, so I tried the 400ex. With the 400ex it was almost to easy and I didnt like the feel. Also the 400ex would not open up the throttle slide all the way without mods to the throttle housing. The best setup I found was the stock R throttle and a softer spring for the 38 carb slide.

Where would someone get a softer spring for the carb slide?

take the stock spring to yur bench grinder and make it thin is a bunch of spots...

400ex throttles work fine if u cut the stopper out... though i prolly shoulda left the stopper on my girls blaster...

Use a raptor spring stretch the coils out and cut to the same length as the R spring. Been using this for about 6 months.
