Does anyone know the best way to remove the key ignition on the 06 450er? If so, could you give me some good ideas and maybe a picture of where you mounted stuff like an on off switch? Thanks

cant be removed, you need to switch power on and off to the battery to juice the starter.

Thanks for the reply, right now I just have a toggle on the red and black wires that shuts the battery power off and the tether on the other two wires and it seems to work, but I haven't fired it up yet. I was just wonding if i'm the only one out there to try this? just looking for ideas

I removed the Key ignition and wired in an on/off toggle and a tether and it works great. So it is possible. Just FYI. What is the best battery to buy? The Stock one sucks and is defective and I tried one off my LT80 and it is too weak. Any suggestions on a good strong type of battery? Thanks

well you did the same thing that the key does just with a toggle switch.why remove the key just for the sake of removing the key?what better purpose does a toggle switch serve????

I did it to get all that crap off the bars. I didn't want to relocate the key, the key ignition is useless to me and losing a key sucks. It was hardly anywork at all and looks way cleaner than stock. What did you guys do to move the stock ignition then? Drill into your plasic and mount it in your fender or something? I was just looking for ideas and maybe a picture and have yet to find any on this forum. Thanks for at least replying.

You did take the factory plastic thing off that holds the temp light and the neutal light + key Right? That thing is a joke, and with Tag bars its even worse. Where did you guys relocate that stuff then, I'm dying to know. I haven't found a single picture in the whole www.

If you wanna run fat bars you can get the Trail Tech clamp. It includes a new plastic dash so you keep the key and indicator lights in about the same place.

i drilled a hole (like an inch and 20 thousadths) on the left front fender. right below the honda 450r decal. it makes the key kind of upside down, but it doesnt fall out. ill get pics tonght when im home.

That is clean, thanks for the pix. What kind of arms are you running? I'm going to get a set soon but I can't figure out which ones to get. I want make this quad low and wide, like my lt500 zilla.

It definitly wasnt cheap, I got the package deal from K&K Atv. It was $2300 for the Gibson a-arms, Elka Quadrate Compression Adjust Shocks, Streamline Steel Braided Brakelines, brakeline clamps, and tierods. I think just a-arms are about $1099 from K&K.

Yeah, I love my a-arms. The quad handles great now. Longtravel shocks will help your quad sit low like you want it. As of right now with my wheels, it sits right at 50.5 inches wide, just over legal limit, so I had to order some 4+1 offset rims.

Heres a pic from the front so you can see what the a-arms look like.
