View Full Version : 2006 ITP Quadcross Round #1 - Glen Helen

01-31-2006, 09:53 PM
The 2006 ITP QuadCross kicked off this passed weekend, starting the series off at Glen Helen California.

With the ATVA National the next week, the track was really set up for QUADS. Even though the track did get a little "rough".

01-31-2006, 09:55 PM
Before we could start racing, we all had to attend the riders meeting to learn about the new changes in to ITP series, which included the two pro classes now, and also the addition of the Rhino Class.

01-31-2006, 09:59 PM
There where two teams signed up to run in the Rhino class, and everyone was waiting to watch them go out in practice. And Dana Creech and co-driver Jason Luburgh where ready to ride.

01-31-2006, 10:14 PM
MR. Jon "Back Flip" Guetter was there to watch for the day.

01-31-2006, 10:46 PM
Some of the Usual rider were not use to the fence that Glen Helen Put up around the track, and when they went over the berm, they also flipped over the fence.

Larry Hiedler was ok though.

01-31-2006, 11:04 PM
There where some new faces in the Pro classes... A few of the local expert guys, decided to try their luck running pro this year.

One guy to defintly keep an eye on is Dustin Terry. He will defintly be running in with the top pros in the years to come.

01-31-2006, 11:09 PM
Another new face in the Pro class was the number 04 Chris Riley, who has been very consistent in the ITP QuadCross, and has moved up through the ranks rather quickly.

01-31-2006, 11:10 PM
Along with new riders where some familiar faces as well. Such as the number 13 rider John Natalie.

01-31-2006, 11:18 PM
THE reining 3x ITP QuadCross Champion Jeremy Schell, could not race this round, due to a broken ankle and a couple broken toes. But the top five from last year automatically advanced so he still recieved points for the main.

02-01-2006, 05:30 PM
The first pro qualifier was going to be exciting, with top riders such as John Natalie and Pat Brown.

Everyone was focused as they watched the board turn sideways.

02-01-2006, 05:31 PM
And the first qualifier was underway, Natalie had a great jump off the line, as he is not even in this picture, just his roost.

02-01-2006, 05:31 PM
And it was John Natalie grabbing the holeshot.

02-01-2006, 05:32 PM
But on the first lap Pat Brown brought the heat, and made the pass around Natalie to take over the lead.

02-01-2006, 05:34 PM
Kory Ellis, number 53, was running in the third place.

02-01-2006, 05:37 PM
Dustin Terry and Jesse Sheaffer where putting on a good show battleing back and fourth.

02-01-2006, 05:38 PM
Unfortunetly Jesse Sheaffer took a tumble down the hill, and although he was ok, his quad was not.

02-01-2006, 05:40 PM
Pat Brown put on a great show and put a little bit of distance between himself and Natalie.

02-01-2006, 05:41 PM
Kory Ellis, was running in a strong third place, and was gaining some time on the top riders.

02-01-2006, 05:42 PM
Jeff Spooner, out of arizona was putting on a great show.

02-01-2006, 05:43 PM
Pat Brown was able to hold Natalie off and take the win for the first qualifier.

But it was John Natalie that grabbed the holeshot.

02-01-2006, 06:09 PM
From the first corner it looked as if Natalie and Brown where going to be putting on a great battle.

Dustin Nelson moved into the third place position with Doug Eicner in second.

02-01-2006, 06:17 PM
As John Natalie came around in the first place position, Pat Brown was no where near.

Pat Brown Broke His axle over the table top in the middle of the track, taking him out of the race completly.

02-01-2006, 06:18 PM
The took a little bit of pressure off John, but there was still other racers that where not far behind.

02-01-2006, 06:20 PM
Dustin Nelson was trying to keep in front of Dunk, but Dunk made the move around Nelson shortly after.

02-01-2006, 06:21 PM
Doug Eichner was running out front, when suddenly his quad just stopped. And we was not able to get it going again.

DO you guys think that I will be able to race in the stock class with my warrior with a pipe, jet kit,and K&n filter has anyone seen a warrior race out there.

02-01-2006, 08:52 PM
Hey quadchick excellent job with the pics and the run down of the weekend. It was a blast to watch.

Its a shame about Pat Brown and the axle. During the first qualifier it was very clear Pat Brown had the better machine up Mt Saint Helens. Every time John got close Pat would would end up pulling several bike lengths ahead up that monsterous hill.

02-02-2006, 07:30 PM
What was the deal with Ricky? Must have just been getting the points.

02-03-2006, 01:20 AM
Great pics, great Coverage -thanks!

03-19-2006, 04:32 AM
Very nice pictures for sure. I was there on Saturday to watch the races and got so sunburnt that I didn't go back sunday. Most of the time I was watching the ladies though, both on the track and in the pits. My friend had the hots for this girl.:)

03-21-2006, 02:27 PM

Girls will just get you in trouble when racing!! Tell him to keep his eyes on the track...(especially when her father is around!! hahahaha)

03-21-2006, 07:22 PM
Hay Pitmom
Clayton shure looked strong this weekend. He lookes real good to bring that #1 plate home again. Tommy talked about that race all the way home! He just kept saying "Icant belive how fast Clayton is this year. hes like twice as fast as last year!!" I had to LOL. Now that we moved into 90 mod, I guess he looks faster trying to chace him down than he did from the sideline. See you guys in AZ.

03-22-2006, 10:18 AM
You know I was just talking about that! We have asked John to replicate his bike motor to his back up bike (still in pieces) but he said it would take him sooo many hours and does not think he could do it, or it would be costly! We have been so lucky with that work and still keeping it legal for the Nationals. Clayton looked his best at the nationals, if it weren't for that stupid throttle cable breaking.

Just knowing that Clayton's Kasea can get thoses hole shots still with everyones new bikes out there, phew!!...we are a bit nervous with all these new bikes coming out and thinking Claytons bike will be outdated like the LT80's (which Clay started out on)

This last weekend the first heat went out the door due to using those fuel lines with the valves on them on the gas cap, everything else we used kept falling off during a race. We have had it on that bike for 6 months and this is the first time it clogged up...tossed that out!

Tommy is amazing...he will get that Honda moving faster than you think. He took an awesome 3rd overall, with a 2nd in his first heat...I know he was sooo excited. I love to see that accomplishment in the kids. Just a bumber they did not trophy him! dumb rule about the 25% thing, it should always be top 3 at least!

They all had such a great time and Clayton was so happy Tommy and Bradey were there. I hope more show up or our three boys will be competing all year. Tommy is now in 3rd place by only 3 points behind Clayton and Bradey, and they are tied for first! Tell him we are proud of him and that we are all excited about Arizona!

03-22-2006, 02:54 PM
Yah, I asked him if he was bumed about not getting a trophy,And he said to me "no not realy, maby thay didnot have enough for the 50 class or somthing. Pluss I got my fair share last year." Then he said "did you see me clear the table befor the finish line?!?! I was jumping further than Doug!!!!" (Doug Eichner is his favoret.) And here i was Making a big deal and he did not even care. Sometimes it takes the insight of your 8 year old kid to keep your pride in check! MAN I LOVE THIS SPORT!!!

03-22-2006, 04:04 PM
Tommy sure is one great kid! Hey those kids were all jumping more than I would ever think about doing on my YFZ450!
This was just a small turn out but I bet in Arizona he will do just as good and probably better. You can see that Tommy is getting the hang of that Honda just fine! The bigger he gets, the stronger he gets!
