Air lid removal and jetting

I noticed the air inlet is through the frame, wow, must not be very restrictive. But with the lid off and the stock pipe/stock filter, how much jetting change is there, and can I use the jets (Mikuni) I have laying around and not worry about the needle?

you can just use the jets and go up two sizes

I'd start with a 128 keihin main if your below 3000 ft elev. 125 above.

Leave the needle and pilot at stock settings. (shouldnt have been too restricted from 1200-5000 rpm. It's the 5000+ that it's not getting enough air with the lid on.
