Im ready to buy the top end kit for my 250r project and was hoping someone could give me some power comparison between the LRD 265 and the ESR 310.

I found a LRD 265PV with a CT pipe used that I can probably pick up for half the price that I can get the ESR 310 non PV with the TRX-5 pipe.

Which would be the better choice? Most of the local riders I will be racing with are all on the new 450s.

Any suggestions or advice from someone who has ridden both power options??

Deffinaly the LRD. It's got a PV too so it will be more rideable when you want to go on some trails and whatnot. ESR is good, but they are a little generic with thier porting and overall work. That doesn't make them bad, but LRD just makes more power per CC hands down.

Thanks... LRD it is then. I think its too good to pass up.

LRD 265PV ( new nickle plating) cool head with 22cc dome New wiseco piston and rings, new top end gaskets, spacer plate, CT mid range pipe and silencer....

$780.00

I think thats a deal.

not to hijack your thread or anything, and I know that all of you prefer the lrd over the esr, but how does the ESR 310 with a midrange port compare in the speed department? I'm asking this because the ESR is about half the price of the 265 LRD, and I'm also in the market for a new top end kit. thanks

I don't know much about 265's, but I have esr330 and what I'm using now, a lrd 295 pv, same pipe, carb, etc the lrd made worlds more power enough that I had to put on a +1 swinger to make it rideable. I have since put a paul turner hi-rev pipe on it, I can almost bring it to a stall in 3rd, nail the gas and its like I downshifted to first, quickly to second, and to third, two seconds later I'ms shifing into 4th and 5th. I am now using a 39 pwk, lrd 295pv, paul turner hi-rev, cr250 reeds and ingition, mind you this is on a atc, its quite a ride.

I had a LRD 265PV, CT310,330 and 350, and Sparks 350PV. All good motors. I prefer 310 over 265PV any day!!

I ride at Little Sahara a lot and drag race my 330 ESR TRX11. I have very seldom been beat by other 250Rs, and it was usually by another ESR engine with more aggressive porting. There were some LRDs that raced me, but I don't know the specifics.

Very smooth broad powerband compared to CT350 non PV.

have had 2 of the eddie sanders 310 kit, LOVE THEM, they are good, cheap, reliable HP, plus i can have the cylinder at my house tomorrow, the sparks is a great motor, but there could be a wait. . . . . . .

Thread ressurection.... What do you guys think, this still hold true with ESR's new stuff? Is LRD still the top end to beat? I know Arlan is on his own now with LED, perhaps his prices are a bit lower too.... Just curious. A 295PV sounds fun...
