I am stuck deciding between a 400ex used or a new KFX 400. My buddy has a 04 400ex Bone Stock that doesn't have more than 50 hours on it. He want $3500 for it. I can get a 06 KFX Out the Door for $5500. I can't decide which way to go. What ya think. Thank you

Get the KFX. More power, reverse, adjustable reservoir front shocks, water cooled, responds better to mods, etc. The 400ex is a good quad, but it's getting a little long in the tooth.

here ya i have a new 06 400ex and my friend has the kfx400 both are really similar kfx is liquid cooled and 400ex is air mine starts up jsut as good as the kfx does no problem, the suspension on kfx is supposed to be better but we swapped quads and neither one of us could say one is better than the other... i feel the 400ex first two gears are strong but the kfx will catch drag wise he pulled away from me by a little but all in all they are about the same give or take...

one thing also if you buy new you are the only one that screws it up and if you buy from your friend you'll be yelling at him if something goes wrong so could ruin a friend ship that way
my opinion

I got it from Ridersville in Berkeley Springs WV last month.
Another dealer Quoted me that price than when i came in to get it told me i got it wrong and that price was on a 300ex.
I was told that was 40 dollars over what the dealer payed.
I have the paper work in front of me.....i didnt make this number up.

No body really mentioned that he'd have about 2000$ to put into the 400ex (for the price difference). You could get front shocks, exhaust and a few other things possibly for the difference...
Personally I love the 400ex and don't really want to complicate it with the liquid cooling and electronics of the Clones...
