Pro-Tect by far is the best, nobody else is even close when it comes to strength. You will pay a little more though. You can reach them at (317)467-1701.

PRM, get the thickest version if durability is more of a concern than weight.

Their plates are all stainless steel, really popular with us GNCC guys. Their website has not been renewed, so you'll just have to call them. Or Baldwin Motorsports is a Pro-Tect distributor. One thing nice about Pro-Tect skid plates is cutom applications. If you run aftermarket linkage, he'll make one with a deeper linkage area so you don't have to run spacers between the plate and swingarm. He'll make custom plates for just about anything else too.

I have the DG Baja FAT 1/4 inch and it seems indestructable. If i had to guess id say anything that is over the .190 will be strong.Go with the .250 which is 1/4 inch!!!!!!!!

stainless would definately be stronger than aluminum.
but, i bet they weigh a ton.

i use AC, they are great for the price, and has gone through a full season without needing replacement, i would say this is by far the best out there

The Pro-tect for my 250R weighs about 6 1/2 pounds. A little heavy but well worth it when you see the punishment it can take.

stainless is good but it transfers shock to the swingarm. one reason for aluminum is it is softer and absorbs the shock. Less stress on the swingarm from the jaring of hitting a rock.
The skid plate is kind of a sacrificial anode.

About $145, a little more for custom applications.

Never been a problem for me. Run one GNCC at the Wisp and you'll wish you had a stainless plate. 9 miles of nothing but rocks and the track is littered with aluminum plates that broke off.

I just ran the parker 250 (best in the desert) 250 miles of solid rock. have ran 3 races of 250 miles now and others of less. never broke an aluminum one off. but have seen many. I think they just don't lock tight their bolts. in desert we are hitting rocks at speeds of upto 95 mph . and that does a number on a swing arm.

no skid, just the sprocket guard for me, and a modified stock skid to protect the brake rotor (LSR stainless soon). Its held up great so far.

PRM, if AC wanted to give me skid plates for free I wouldn't use them. THEY ARE JUNK if your riding anywhere near rocks. do it once and get a PRM
