Okay guys, I have an LT250r 86 and it runs great I have owned it for the past 2 years. I am the second owner and the first owner babied this LT. Since I have owned it I have riden the $h!t out of it. The LT has been running great and hasn't given me one problem "Until today" While in Glamis my motor started making a real loud noise. Sounds like you can hear the piston running up in down in the jug. I am thinking it is time to freshen the top end up. I have clocked my LT250r in the dirt at 62mph I am sure they go faster but I thought that was pretty good for this 86 LT250r. the noise that is coming from the motor do you guys tink it is the top end asking to be bored? I checked compresion and it is at 125 psi. Never the less it just started making the noise. I checked the coolint and it is fine I am thinking it is the piston smacking the cylinder wall. In wich case it would need to be bored out. Or is there something else I might not be seeing? Give me your thoughts.

it could also be the rod knocking. you will have to tear down the top end to know what it is for sure anyways. When you have it tore down, have the head milled down 15-20 thousands. It will up the compression = more HP and easier starting.

Okay I can do that, .015 to .020 off the head to create more top-end pressure? That will produce more HP, I had this done to my sons LT80 but I had .030 removed. Is .015 or .020 playing it safe? elieve it or not the LT250r starts on the first kick almost every time.:D
