I was looking thru past posts and saw that you could put a 250r rear rotor on a 400ex. I read that you need the following 250r parts: "caliper, caliper mounting plate, hub, rotor" My question is will the rotor hub fit on a stock 400ex axle or did you have to replace the axle also?

Thanks for the help.

a 400ex has same spline as a 250r axle

What is the point in doing this? I thought I read that XC Racers do it because the 250r Rotor is smaller and you will gain ground clearence.

the rotor is smaller but the thing i dont get is say u have 5 inches of ground clearence to ur skid plate then u put on the 250r rotor and it is smaller u still have only 5 inches cuz ur skidplate is still there. do u take off the skidplate?

Another big advantage is you can run the 250R twin piston caliper, the R brake pads will out last the 400ex pads by about 4 times as long!

I have 250R Brakes all the way around on my 400 and I can outbrake any other 400 I have gone up against. Plus when landing from jumps you dont have to worry as much that the landings are rutted up from dirtbikes. I have seen quite a few rotors broken because of this. Mo;)

That looks really nice and it sounds like it makes a big difference in stopping faster. How much would it be to just do the Rear Setup and what Parts would I need? Thanks

I bet its expensive??? I would get the 250r caliper and those wave rotors. Are the 400ex that bad that you should get 250r brakes?

the main reason i did it was for ground clearence, i dont run a skid plate so that extra 1-2 inches helps alot

The 400 brakes arent all that bad but all I do is race with mine. The ground clearance on the takeoffs and landings are so screy when bikes or even quad guys that dont jump they tear the face and landings up that if you do jump it is **** on rotors. Plus the fact that I am 6'3" and about 250lbs I need all the ground clearance i can use. The stopping power you gain is nice also. I bought my parts for the conversion from ebay for around $250 for the rear and almost $500 for the front.Mo;)

Well that will have to be the last thing I ever get cause thats expensive.
