Anybody know anything about carrier bearings

I think my carrier bearing on my 400ex went out. How do i know? How do I fix it or How much will it cost me?

if you can wiggle your axle while holding the swing arm,you have too much play or slop in your axle,bearings are probably shot.you can get the kits with new bearings and seals for $50 or so.if you keep riding with bad bearings this could lead to more damage such as chain coming off and breaking the motor case..not good;)

If your axle locknut is tight and you still have play then thats a sign. also if you hear grinding in the rear axle, check and see if your rear tires roll smoothly. Most of the time when you think the carrier bearings are goin out they are. i would replace em for sure. double row bearing carriers are a good upgrade. they have grease jerks too.
