my honda 250r wont take gas! every time i try to give it gas it sputs,spadders and back fires and sometimes shoots out fire. i first thought is was my reeds but i change them out and it still does the same thing. could anyone give me some suggestions?

make sure your carb is clean,the jet passages as well.is your top end fresh?

thats what i was leaning towards my carb and the jetting. my top end is still fresh. Thanks

sounds like jets are way too big too rich. What oil mixture you using (Ratio). And what plug you using should be a b or br7,8,or 9.

Sounds like maybe you need to adjust the air screw. If they are to far out it will lean out bigtime.

That shouldn't have an effect with the 250r carb. The air screw only affects the idle, as soon as he pushed the throttle and lifts the slide even a little bit, it's not running on the idle circuits anymore.

To the original question:

Right off the bat, it sounds like a jetting problem, or you have something clogged in your carb. Time to tear it down and clean it.

If that doesn't fix the problem, post your engine specs, carb size (and type), and you're jetting information on here. Somebody will see it and tell you if you're in the ballpark.

to much air is getting in check jets.

Does the quad idle, or not run at all. Make shure the clip is still intact on the needle.
