YES THEY WILL WORK.
U NEED TO TAKE THE L BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE FRONT FENDERS ON.LOOK AT THE CENTERING HOLE AND HOLE IT OUT,WHICH MOVES BOLT FROM THE UPPER SHOCK TOP.THEN TAKE A BOLT AND GRIND SOME OF THE HEAD OFF TO MAKE THE HEAD OF THE BOLT THINNER.INSTALLED BOLT UP-SIDE DOWN IN NEW HOLE THAT U DRILLED EARLIER.ALSO THERE IS 2 NUTS WEILDED TO INSIDE OF FRAME,TAKE A HAND PUNCH AND REMOVED THEM.INSTALL YOUR R SHOCKS ON YOUR EX......

I'm wondering why people always have something to say about people that type in all caps. not tryin to be a smart ***. it just boggles me thats why i'm asking. is there somekind of law against it on the internet. lol

And for the orginal quetion. i didn't know you had to do all that to make em fit.

you dont unless you like extra work, just grind around the top eye on the shock till it fits.

I only had to take an 1/8 inch off, and I dont really jump anything major, so I shouldnt ever have a problem. Thats a good alternative to grinding though.

I have just recently put the 450r shocks on my 400ex. The best thing I've done yet. Had GT Thunder put dual rate springs on em' I asked alot of people about installing them and it came to grinding the top of the shock. It was such a small amount hardly worth saying you would loose strength. now I gotta learn how to use the dampening control??

Do a search and you will find out how, I know there is a thread on it. I just cant remember exactly how. How much did it cost to get the dual rate springs installed?

Yes you're correct, but every coherent person on this website realizes it's a much smarter thing to grind the shocks that screw with the frame. Believe me people, I've had this mod, grind the shocks. It's such a minimul amount to remove it won't weaken the shock enough to break.

I did the conversion too, and it worked great. I installed them with a set of +2 a-arms, and they felt perfect for the type of riding I do. I even raced in the WORCS series, and they soaked up pretty much everything I threw at them. I didn't grind the shocks. I knocked the fender bracket nuts off and used screws, and then CAREFULLY grinded a small amount of material from the back of the shock mount to provide clearance when the a-arms are fully extended.
