Just throw 2 new gaskets on the water pump cover. it just soudns like the gaskets are bad or maybe the bolts are not tight enough

Yes you will. there should be a screw on the water pump cover that you take out and it will drain. or if you just loosen the 2 bottom bolts on you water pump cover and just barley loosen the 2 top bolts it should drain also. but how ever you want to do it. just have a coffee can or somthing to catch the anti freeze. you can reuse it if no dirt or anything falls into it.

No you do not have to drain the coolant. You can put the bike on its side.

it might come out the overflow tube on your gascap. just keep the tube higher then the tank and you should be fine. be sure to shut your fuel supply valve off! and you also may have some fuel come out your carb but that wont be much.

Sounds like the mechanical seal, never really seen a water pump gasket leak on a 250R.
