I just got my motor put together and did a compression test (cold), and it took about 4-5 kicks to get it up to 180 psi. I take it that it is normal to have to kick that many times to reach max psi? Also I'm trying to determine what type of fuel to run in this thing, will psi increase when the motor warms up? I would like to run pump gas, but it looks like I'm border line to running race gas.

Yes that is normal. it takes me about the same to get mine to 170 PSI. when you get to 180PSI you are supose to run 101 octane. but you might be able to get by with 94. i know 1 of my buddys had 178PSI and his runs ok with 94. but if i were u i would just run the 101 to be safe.

You need to check the compresion with the motor warm.Turn the gas off and hold the throttle open.Kick the motor over until the compression gauge quits climbing. At 180 psi,you would be good with 93-94 octane. You may want to go to at least 101 if this is a new motor. It will gain some on compression as it breaks in.

Mine gained compression when i broke my motor in. You will be good to run 94 octane, but from what beerock has told me its a good idea to run race gas. The leads in the fuel will lube it better making it run longer.

I run 195lbs. with just 93 octane, and have for years. Never a problem or any kind of pinging or detonation.
