My dad just got some 31" tires for his 05 jeep wrangler and we are wondering if they will fit correctly. The thing that we think may have some problems is when he turns. Just trying to get some answers before we go and buy a lift kit. (thats still a couple of months away...lol)

Shouldnt be a problem, My boss has 35's with only 4 inches of lift...Try it out...Or find some one with a 31" tire and test drive it.

we are going to get them mounted on a pair of new rims he got so we can try them out and if they dont fit we can put the stocks back on until be get the lift. So hopefully they fit. Anyone else got any answers?

31s will fit, but they will rub against the lower control arm when turned all the way. Every tire is different, some run accurate, some run small, some run big. 30s would be better, but 31s should be ok, just a little tight. Get a Budget Boost to raise it 2", they're only about $80 for 4 poly spacers!

He's right ^...I work at a tire place and I put a set on the other day. They rubbed on the lower control/stabilizer arm when turned all the way.

If you have a warranty, hope that your rear end does not go out. A good friend of mine put oversized tires on his new Jeep... about a year later his rear end blew out. He took it to the dealer and they would not honor his warranty because of the oversized tires. They blamed them for putting too much stress on the rear end.

I know all dealers are different, but keep that in mind!

If you run the 31's on the stock rims they will most likely run on the lower control arms, mine did also. All you have to do is put a couple washers on the steering stops, and the problem is solved.
