Im trying to get a TC Racing Shorty pipe for my 400ex for racing here at the local tracks, but when i go to the TC Racing site I only see one for a crf450? I need one that will be for my 400.

Hey, is TC Racing any good? I ask this becuase a while back there was a 400ex for sale that had a TC 416 kit in it .I didnt buy it, but I during that time I searched, but could not find out anything about TC racing. Just curious now.

i may be wrong correct me if i am but from what i can tell tc is a badass pipe not for tails and strictly for mx but thats what i heard to get a tc pipe for a 400 call like i did the $ is 349.99;)

the TC pipe is a MX pipe it adds alot of bottomend for that extra grunt out of the turns....TC is a very reputable(sp) engine builder...he used to build doug gusts engines before he got sponsored by yoshi/suzuki...TC does all of Lost Creek Cycles Motos and he does some of East Coast Atv's motors...im thinking sparks does ECA now tho

quad boy you should ahve got that 416...TCs motors are some bad *** motors...

oh yea for the one interested in the pipe...if your buying this to trail ride dont bother...this pipe is hella loud and will proally piss off any neighbor you have...

01-26-2006, 06:37 PM
well its super loud like 130dBs

TCracin440ex
01-26-2006, 06:40 PM
yes its very loud

but if you plan on racing in the ATVA/AMA with this pipe forget it...the DB rule will be enforced on all racers this year...100db i think...or 103...not sure what the exact numbers are...but i know a TC shorty wont pass on a good day...thats why Tom is making longer exhausts now for the pros

Jason Luburg and Jason Dunkelberger ran the "NEW" TC exhaust this past season...its alot longer then the old style shorty and alot uglier

LORD NO...if you want a good track/trail pipe you should probally look into an HMF....this pipe in a enclose area like a wooded trail will probally blow your ear drums out

I won't tell you not to run a TC for the woods because I do. But... if you will be riding public trails or anywhere close (within a half-mile at least) to a populated area, you'll probably make a bunch of people mad and you're likely to get a visit from the police about the noise. If you're like me and live basically in the middle of nowhere and have plenty of private land to ride on, then you might be okay.

I could be wrong, but for some reason 88-89db comes to mind. Anyway, the stock exhaust on my CRF is supposedly rated at 96db (standard sound check, not holding it WFO), and the stock EX exhaust isn't even close to being as loud as my CRF.

TC = Tom Carlson

TC PIPES ARE NOT FOR TRAIL RIDING, ONLY FOR MX, THEY ARE TOO LOUD FOR XC OR TRAIL RIDING.....SAVE OUR RIDING AREAS

01-27-2006, 10:34 AM
well, where do we find them???

ive came to a conclusion...im gonna buy one :D

U know an exaust is loud when the dirt blows out of the way 5ft behind the quad, when it is idleing...

Before you get a tc pipe. take your stock exaust can off. start the bike up with your ear next to the end of the head pipe. this is about how loud the tc pipe is. if you can deal with that,,, buy one.

otherwise buy a hmf that makes simular power just hella quieter.
