View Full Version : 2 stroke silencer on a 4 stroke?

My friend put his Suzuki 160 Quadrunner engine in a dirt bike frame. He wanted a new exhaust pipe so he put a 2 stroke silencer on it because he said it "sounds good". I was wondering if putting a 2 stroke silencer on a 4 stroke is ok for the engine?

my dads friend works at a kawasaki dealership and he has a KX pipe on his race car hauler's generator. lol

we ran a YZ125 FMF silence on an old mojave for while until we sold it. worked fine just the core is smaller and packing lasted about 2 rides. very loud, not exactly a good loud either.

There was a guy at our local track that had a 2 stroke silencer on a kfx400...and IT WAS ANNOYING!

We took a yz 125 stock silencer, took all the packing out, and put it on a beartracker....It sounded okay. It got annoying though.

i have two serious questions. What does the 2 stroke slierncer sound like on a four?

and could you really use that coffee can idea? what would that sound like.

Man, there are some real hillbillys on here. 2 stroke pipes are for 2 strokes. 4 stroke pipes are for 4 strokes. If you're that bored staring at your bike in the garage, that you want to jerry rig a 2 stroke silencer onto your quad - you have way too much time on your hands.
