What year rear shock off the raptors fits a 300ex, because I'm bidding on a 2005 raptor shock right now on ebay. It doesn't have the piggy back rezzy, it has the remote rezzy. Just need to know fast because the season is about to start and I need to have a better shock in the back.

Only the 01 will fit it....I thought the 05 had a piggyback rezzie though....If it has a line going to the rezzie it should work...

The '05 will work, but you have to cut off the frame tube that goes to the air box on the left side. I know because I had it done for my son's. I had it cut flush to the frame and a plate to plug the hole. Looks factory now.

I wouldn't feel comfortable about cutting a tube off the frame, but thats just me. Maybe it doesn't hurt it, but i still wouldn't do it.

It's the tube that goes in to the air box for Pete's sake. It has no structrual function at all. To each his own. I'd rather have a new shock take off than one that is 5 years old.

as long as the shock still works fine it doesnt matter if its a year old or 5...

Just chill out dude, i'm not saying it would hurt it, i just said i wouldn't do it. It probably doesn't do anything for structural integrity, but i wouldn't feel comfortable enough with my mechanical skills, tools, and peace of mind to do it. Yes a new shock might be better, but you could get the 01 raptor rebuilt if you needed, or found one in good shape, and didn't want to cut the frame a little. Maybe something else could be rigged up in place, that would clear the shock reservoir, and still have the bar there. If i get the right tools, heck i might even do it, who knows.

O and who's Pete? :p

Pete? I think it's Will's brother, you know the one everyone is always shooting at. It would also be Justin Case's cousin if I'm not mistaken.

As for if one works better than the other? Depends on the shock condition and if you have it revalved to the rider weight like it should be.

the 01 is possibly one of the best mods you can take off of one quad and put on the 300ex...you can get them rebuilt if needed but from the stock raptor they are great..i have one and it makes the ride a lot better
