i have a 99 440 ex 13:1 je piston and was wondering on what octane i should run i was told that the smartest would be to run a 98 lead octane which i have full advantage to and is cheaper or run 110 which will be alot harder for me to get oh ya and the 98 octane is what he runs in his shifter carts so i was wondering on what everyone thinks i should do or what would be smarter

Not a 400ex but i use 50/50 mix with 93 and 110 octane. Runs great.

Love the smell too. :D

running 98 should be fine.

is all race gas leaded instead of unleaded like pump gas

i think all race gas is leaded, but dont hold me to that, there may be some that is unleaded.

Is leaded or unleaded better and why?

Im pretty sure that the only difference between leaded and unleaded is that the lead is actually a little bit of a lubricant for the valves. But not 100% sure on that.

Not all race gas is leaded. Sunoco is making some unleaded race gas.

When you say you are running 93 and 110, is one leaded and one not? Those two don't mix very well.

actually they mix perfect.
93 pump gas mixed with 110 sunoco leaded. works like a charm.

I'm not saying it doesn't work, I'm saying it doesn't actually mix. Pour some together in a clear container and watch what happens.

wew with a 13:1 your gonna be wanting to run full race gas with no mix...running anything other then race gas is going to cause pre det...and could even cause you to blow a head gasket...it will also make the motor run like crap and cause pinging

Hell, I am at almost 11:1 and mix 50/50....not worth the chance

At 12:1 I would be running 111

At 13:1 I would run the highest octane I could get (as long as I could afford to ride)
