I am new to the sport quads. I just got a 2001 raptor 660 and i would like to get a little more top end as cheap as i can. I have been reading forums about changing the sprockets. To get more top end do i add teeth to the sprocket or take teeth away? Also i was going to get a new cdi ignition where is the box located? probaly close to the handlebars was my guess lol.

the cdi is located under the seat, behind the battery. in reguards to increasing the number of teeth or decreasing, it depends on whether you want to change the front or rear sprocket. by increasing the rear sprocket, you decrease your top speed and gain more down low power. doing the opposite (decreasing the rear) will net you higher top speed. now for the front, decreasing the number of teeth will give you less top speed, but more down low. and increasing the number of teeth will give you more top speed
