power is nothing without control, put handling and suspension in your quad first. so many people will be like, buy a carb bur a pipe get a big bore. DONT start off with tires, a arms shocks. then move onto motor. youll go way faster on the track with better suspension and width, then a stocker with a bigbore

Go with the Curtis Sparks x-4 pipe, you won't regret it.

ELKA 83 is 100% right motor mods pipe nothing matter without suspension, good handling and a good rider ..dont even waste you money on motor stuff if you quad has stock suspension exc. I have a nice quad that i race mx with and ran a stock 250x engine because my TC engine blew i ran this 2/3 of the 05 season and i got 2nd in district

best upgrade.. buy a bigger machine.. no just kidding. I would get a bigger cam, high comp. piston and a good pipe.

The most reliable mod would be a 330 kit from four stroke tech and a cam from them. the 330 kit is only $295 and the cam is $165. Also a oil cooler kit($85) from FST would be smart . Also remember when you do this you will want to set your quad up suspension wise for faster speeds. With this kit you will smoke 400ex's and run with z400's.

suspension first..i only have a 01 raptor shock and it has already proven a wise 60 bux spent...tires is another good investment...either razrs or klaws 18in for racing or 20in for a more all around.

i really dont see why the suspension is such a big deal to you guys, the 300ex migh have some of the most pitiful suspension of any of the quads being produced today, but its power is even worse off than that, def. get a pipe and filter, some nerfs at least

Suspension is #3 on my list for the 300ex.

1) Spend some money on proper riding gear. Rubber boots, and sunglasses dont count. Good Helmet, Boots, Gloves & Goggles are a MUST. Riding Pants, Breathable Riding Shirt, are nice because they wash easy, and the pants can save you fron some road rash. ;) The Helemet and Boots have saved me from many injuries and I don't know how many times I would have broken my ankle without those boots.
2) Pipe, Filter, rejet (always uncork first), good tires, good bumper (easier to pull out of mud and will help protect your a-arms), tether kill switch, and nerfs (preference).
3) Suspension upgrade. (I wouldn't go beyond elka rec up front, and a rebuilt raptor rear).
4) High comp piston/cam
5) Bigbore, port work, etc....

But, in my honest opinion, if your beyond #2.. it's time to upgrade to a higher performance quad vs. spending twice as much to make the 300 almost as good as a stock version of the next step up.

Unless you're racing in the sport class of course, then there's reason for spending the extra cash on all 4. For normal riding, or open class racing, what's the point, outside of fit/size? Sell the 300 and buy a 400. It will be MUCH cheaper. ;)
