im thinking about buying an 04 450r it will start if you give it gas and kick at the same time and will run as long as you stay on the gas. should i be worried about this or would it be a easy fix also do 450r with stock exhaust have a lil bit of engine noise to them kinda sounds like a ping to it but it isnt smokin or anything like that and it pulls good when i ride it help me out i want a 450r bad but im worried about that engine noise and that it wont idle

For the most part its probly a dirty carb. If the original owner tried to rejet it may just be the fuel/air screw is off.

I'd take it thats for sure if the deal is good enough

But if you mean extremely loud like metal to metal no. I've only seen one that was metal to metal sound. It was on 05 with 4 hours on it when the crank bearings let go. It was fixed under warrenty.

My R came with the hrc kit installed so mine was a bit louder right away. But I have heard a few stock and yes the engine is more noisy than most.

Could just be time to adjust the valves.

my 05 has 20-30 hard hours on it. no problems>"bang head into wall"<
mabey it has cheep gas??
start the motor and put a screw driver on it and put the handle against your ear, you should be able to find the noise.
try to ride it, and warm it up. shift through the gears at a low rpm and get it to lug the engine a little and see if it is just spark knock.
if you dont mind what is the asking price?

I'd jump on it, if you can do the work yourself go for it. If not find a freind that can help with valve adjustment. Its probly not major to fix it up.

When I first rejetted my ex I messed up the fuel/air and it didn't idle till I had a freind check it out was off by only maybe a quater turn.

I had the same problem with my 05 at the end of the season this year. It would not start unless I fed it fuel and I had to keep fedding it till it warmed up then it would be fine after it warmed up. I just thought it was a valve issue. Come to find out at one of the last races a little mud got into the motor and fried a couple gaskets and was eating oil pretty bad. I took it to my mechanic just thinking it was valves and here my cam had burn marks on it. We didnt look at the bottom end yet but I think we caught it in time so nothing should be bad on it. All I'm saying is check the cam and piston and see what they look. Hope it works out for ya!
