I just bought a Ford F150 about a month ago. It is a 2000 with the 5.4L 4x4 with 124,000 miles on it. It is burning a quart of oil in 1000 miles. Is this too much for this truck? I need to know before my warranty is up. Also what bothers me is that after I drove the truck off the lot, I drove about 100 miles and when I checked the oil it wasn't even touching the dipstick:eek2: . Crap.

I know u Chevy guys will say the problem is that its a Ford so don't tell me that. (same for you dodge guys)

I told the dealer about it - he just played dumb and said "well I guess nobody was checking it then" . Said nothing else. I was p*ssed:mad:

Atleast you dont need to change the oil. Just keep adding. By the time you change your oil its not very old.

Not meanin to be a post whore on this forum but think about the oil filter man. plus think aobut how much money you would end up spendin on oil it'd prolly eventually end up bein cheaper jus to get the engine fixed right than spend alot of money on oil.

1 qt. every 1000 miles, 3000 miles change, 3x1 = 3

I think it could be a piston ring, i'm gonna do a plug check & compression test on it. I have a post just like this on an F150 thread already.

Drop a brick on the pedle and just wait. Once the thing goes call a tow truck and drop it off at the dealer. Now your problems fixed.

Thats when I'm not afraid to get the attourney involved. If I lose everything and I really don't want a basket case on my hands I will sell it I've learned my lesson.

LOL, I had a friend that wanted to take a programmer, take off the rev limiter, do that, then clear the error codes and reset to the factory setting and have warranty pay for a new motor.
