Hillshooters often cut the front fenders so they can see their front tires.

I've heard some people say it also makes you more stable in the air. Your rears aren't a big concern, because they are behind you. But if your front fenders start blowing around, you're momentum is pushing into them, and can really throw you off.

It's like trying to steer an airplane with a rudder in the front, it's just really unstable.

someone told me that shaving the fenders gives you a little more top end cause the wind doesn't hit the front fenders

You'd never notice the difference...

Man if you do wind up shaven your fenders let me know about the air control thing, because my 400ex reaches for the skies everytime I hit a ramp. (even w/ my wieght forward and rear brakes)

I cut them off this weekend. And yeah it looks really mean. And i did notice a slight difference in the air. I haven't had up high enough to notice a huge difference. But it does let the front end go where you put it. I think the biggest change i noticed was a lot less plastic vibration. I don't know if it's just a honda thing. But man they tend to vibrate at high rpm's.

and if you have an older EX like me with no reverse it helps to put your feet on the tires and back up. :p

i heard with a 400 ex if you wanna go big the front end will catch the air and lift up but when the fenders are cut it stays pretty stable
