went to the beach the other day, a stock 400ex was winning
most of the time, he was the only one sitting correctly. the banshee had paddle tires, also a raptor and a new z400. they were sitting allmost on the tank, spinning tires, the 400ex had stock tires also, he had a 155 mj and he lowered his ex. he made some bars so the shocks could attach to it. this made his ex not coming up in front. he was starting in 2nd gear. he sat almost on the grab bar. he would get the holeshot and stay ahead. he even raced my boys 400 ex, (165 mj and air lid off, wb e series pipe] he still would beat them, the front came up some on mine, {he rode our bike}
iv seen some lowering kits somewheres, but cant remember where. does anyone know where i can find these kits, i belive it just clamps the spring together some. any help on drag racing would help.

Lowering kit is basically an "L" shaped bracket that raises the mounting point of the top of the shock, thus lowering the quad, should be simple to make if you have access to a machine shop

when they torch car shocks, they just heat them up so they are weaker and sag a lot more right? Well couldn't you do something like that to the stock 400ex shocks? I'm not sure if it would work or not I just was woundering if there was a easier way to lower it?

heating your springs would just make your springs weak and you would be lower, but they will be ruined if you ever go back stock. Heating springs is the do-it-yourself way, the right way is to get brackets that make your shocks mount higher. You can also get 300ex or similar shocks that are a few inches shorter than stock. I used my 300 shocks on my 400 to race flat track. Had to take off my air box and the aluminum pieces where the stock rear shock mounts. worked pretty good when I made a spacer to jack the right front and put more weight on my rear wheels.

The bar that attached to the shocks is a swaybar. They are available along with lowering kits at durablue.com

I ran a lowering kit in flattrack and plan on running one in MX. I makes everything great but it seems to take away from shock travel a little bit. It may not, but it's just the way it feels
