i have ridden the 06 yfz and its pretty quick but sucks *** at low rpms there is no bottom end power. and it sucks in the woods cuz its so low
my friend has ridden both and he said the 450r will blow away the yfz but which is better for woods and mx?

Sorry, but your friend sounds crazy to me i he thinks the YFZ is slower than the TRX becuase the bikes are pretty darn close if you know how to ride them. I will admit though that the 450r definately has more grunt at low rpms and at the bottom of the powerband though.....or at least I find. Basically, you have to feel out both as it is totally up to you on this one. Both bikes are gonna perform pretty close for that type of riding. Sit on them, ride them BOTH if you can... basically feel them out and see which will suit YOU more. No one can tell you the right or wrong choice here anyways, so it is up to the rider to decide which will be better and suit him/her better personally.
Get the YFZ.
I bet you cant figure out who this is.

Ride them both then decide which one you like. They are both good bikes. Its all about what you like not what the next guy likes.

Both bikes from the first year they were introduced were ment for racing. The question for you is, Were are you riding most. If you are on a track the y is a better bike. If you do long rides in woods or on other trails go with the honda. You wont be as sor after a long days ride. And the 06 trx has a lower center of gravity than 04-05 trx so it will compete on tracks better. Honda suspensions no matter what year are always better (more comfortable on long rides) :ermm:

I finally got to ride a YFZ and I didn't like it at all. Every time I would try to jump it I would nose it over and it didn't feel as good in the air. I don't know why but my 450R feels like it floats compared to that thing. When the guy that owns it comes out to the pratice track with us I can't keep him off my R:rolleyes:
whatever bike suites your riding style best go with it
i didnt like the yfz because of the powerband, the hard seat, very low stance, and everything felt way too close to me
the 450r has a nice soft seat, it feels like im actually on the quad instead of ontop of the quad, it has the powerband i like, i love kick starts, and it suits my riding style way better then the yfz
like i said, its up to what fits you best

i sat on the yfz and i instantly didnt like how it felt and then i sat on the 450r and i loved it so i went with the 450. like everybody else says its up to u.
ummmmm

I also had a tuff decision between the two. I went with the 450R because i thought the seat was alot softer , i didn't like the stiff throttle on the YFZ and i had always had battery issues with my previous quads , so i wanted the kick start. I have never regretted my decision and love my quad but im sure i would be just as happy right now if i would have got the YFZ. What ever you decide im sure you will be very pleased either way. Both machines are awesome.

lmfao. I agree
And it's not our fault that Honda's 450 is a piece of sh.iit. :)

what?
you know.......the cranks that are flying out of the trx450s that honda hasn't recalled?
And please, point out what makes the YFZ a pile. I would LOVE to know...
The YFZ is not that problematic, and I've looked through the forums many times. From my observation the 450r has more problems??? such as : cranks, thrust washers, main bearings, ETC?

yeah, well thats probably true for some 450R's, but that doesnt mean all of them are crap...and if it happened a lot, they would have recalled them. I have had my 450R for about a year now and ive raced it all season and no problems.
Okay. Maybe so. But I've heard many incidents of the cranks, outside of exriders.com, too.
With that aside, I still can't figure out why the honda rider's spend so much of their time picking apart the YAMAHA/SUZUKI/ETC. machines? Typically someone who does that is really insecure.
Oh, and MixMasterMike needs to grow the f.uck up and quit acting like such an immature idiot. How old are you honestly? 14? It's clear to me you got jumped in school.

I've heard plenty about the yfz... so lets just say there even.
but that was pretty funny about the whole piano thing.

It sure doesnt look like John Natalie is spending too much time doing that!

you might beat me in a drag race but im talkin about the track.
anyone can go fast in a strait line.
your not really comparing apples and apples. this is a thread for the trx and yfz, which are designed to ride track... not to win drags.

back to the topic... i have ridden both the YFZ and 450r on the trail and track and while trying to be non-bias i do own a 450r. First when getting on the YFZ i felt very cramped compared to my 450r. The seat is harder then most seats, actually just about any other seat of an ATV i have felt. To get the bike going you have to rev it out and ease the clutch out a good ways before it starts to go i noticed. The front end is extremely heavy compared to my 450 and did not want to leave the ground whatsoever. Over the whoops it was not controlled and had a very hard ride. It did not have the bottom end grunt out of a corner my 450r had and cut out on the top end. after just a couple laps my thumb was sore and i was beaten to crap from the suspension being so stiff. I then got on my 450r and first thing i noticed was how much lighter and easier to control it was, the seat was softer, bars up farther, everything just spread out more. I barely let the clutch out and the bike is wheelying away. I then hit jumps at the same speed and throttle position i was hitting on the YFZ and barely leaving the ground and i was clearing them. Going around corners on the YFZ i would 2 wheel ( the YFZ had MXr4's, the Honda Kenda Klaws) while the 450r slid around. THe 450r would go through the whoops in any gear you could get it in and floated on the wop while the YFZ shook side to side and the rear end slapped you i nthe nuts. The Honda throttle takes a very short stroke to be wide open and honestly after riding the YFZ i fell in love my with 450r even more. :D

umm no and i doubt you can either.
i race C class and im moving up to B next season. and all you ***s stop saying 450R's suck. you guys are just jelous cause you dont have one. but god dammit, enough about the ****ing quad... if your serious about racing it doesnt matter if you got a yfz or a trx, its the rider. you guys are the kind of people that hang out by their trailors and talk ****.
so please stop saying how you can smoke me over the computer cause you and i both know that we'll probably never race. so if you think you can beat me, great! but keep it to yourself.

guys...let's back back on topic please...the Quad Sport 230...are you saying that years of maintence and tuning will be beaten by innovative technology that isn't proven efficient? come on. maybe it's not your fault. because you don't know. if you saw it...it's just wow. i offered him some money to buy it but it's not for sale... i race B and he laps me. i just can't keep up. even in practice. he rides it like a dirtbike bike too. sticks his foot out in the corners...it's crazy. and as far as the YFZ450 and the TRX450...who cares who comes in 2nd or 3rd? when the 500 will rip your 450's in two!:blah:

I have raced his 230 Quadsport, on my decked out 450R. He smokes me every time.
and he can hang in A, class.
U never saw a 230 go so fast.
I have a DG bumper, and Durablue stickers on my quad, and the 230 lights me up every time.
but for the argument of the 450R vs. YFZ nobody has any proof that one is better than the other. and I mean PROOF.
