I am really concerned about the weight of my YFZ. I want it to be as light as possible so I was just wondering which axle, swingarm and a-arms are lightest available on the market??
Thanks

for normal riding or drag racing? for drag, mini marvin shocks, for reg. riding, the fox float shocks are the lightest, and i think rpm makes a titanium axle

lone star makes a aluminum axel. cost alot though and not for jumping. fox shocks r the lightest.

Bradley's got it right. Shaws are the lightest. Then floats. If you do mostly drag racing, then try the marvin shaws if not then get the floats.
For axles other than those mentioned, look for a jj&a or a fireball. Both of these can be purchased gun drilled for greater weight savings. There are several manufacturers of drag (lite) a-arms as well as swingers.
What is your purpose for all the lite stuff? If you plan on trails or jumping, some of this stuff won't be for you. You need to be honest with yourself here as this stuff is quite spendy. Both the jj&a and the fireball axles are over $600.

Do you think a titanium axle can handle jumps???

i'm pretty sure the ti rpm axle is pretty much indestructable. walsh also makes some ti chassis componets. like the other guy said, this stuff isnt cheap!

The Fox Float Evol shocks will probably be the lightest LT shock if they ever release it. I know my Fox Floats are considerably lighter then the stock shocks were.

You do realize making a bike into an MX bike adds weight, correct??

Our TRXs full MX ready to run a Moto, full of fuel, wiegh in at 387lbs..37 more then the clamied dry wieght.

I think lonestar makes some titamium stuff. That with Fox Airshocks would probably be the lightest. And most expensive too.

Yeah, that and adding extended this and that..I dont think people realize how much more weight the beefed up stuff adds..Because we have also taken a condiserable amount of weight off the bike with numerous things and its still that heavy.

Why does every one want carbon fiber axles and rims when it breaks u cant weld it back to gether or bend it back it a waste of money IMPO. and if u dont weld titanium just right the weld well break real easy(dont have to worry about axle) Chromoly the best way to go unless ur rich.

In regards to the wheels, if a carbon fiber breaks, all you have to do is buy the piece that broke. I think there is like 5 pieces to each wheel. About the axle, I would like to see them. I think they would have more flex than standard axles. Not sure how strong they would be and how much $$$ they would cost.

cannondale made there carbon fiber axles in house, becasue they were doing it there self, they were actually cheaper than the axles they were buying from RPM

I dotn think you have to worry about breaking a carbon rim. Even if you do Im sure hiper will fix the problem without you having to spend any money. Also RAD makes aluminum axles, and I believe they too make a titanium axle. Upwards of $700 though.

Also I know the RATH Racing predator 90 in this months dirtwheels has a carbon fiber axle on it, and you can buy them too!

Not to get on anybodies bad side, but for those people that have the Hyper rims, and you ride hard, you’ll notice that these rims develop stress fractures and eventually these fractures get worse and lead to faller. I could be wrong here but I doubt hyper is going to fix your rims without a fee. If so they can start sending me 4 new rims.
