300ex axle question

A friend of mine has a 300ex and he wants to know if he can use a 400ex axle in it. If so, what mods are needed to make it work?

You can't put the 400ex axle in a 300ex swingarm. I belive you can put a 350x axle in there though, along with the swing arm and shock without and mods
