My father in law just bought a bone stock 04 yfz in real nice shape , but when we rode it tonight the head pipe was glowing very bright. I want to know if they all have this problem and what size jet it needs to fix it. Thanks

Nahhh... it's no problem. That's common for the YFZ.

This thing looked like it was about to melt. I wouldnt think that it is normal.Did anyone rejet their stock yfz?

Dude... what part of "This is normal" don't you understand? Even with my bike rejetted, K&N, and Full Alba pipe it still glows red. That's typical of the YFZ head pipe.

I understand normal , but I wanted more than one opinion. Thanks for your input on the subject. Matthew

Don't sweat it. It is normal. Imagine the temps that are shooting out of that engine. The header is only about two or three mm thick. It is naturally going to glow. Jetting richer might help a little, but you arent going to stop it from glowing. Just ride it!

I have an 06 and it glows to the point it looks like you can see through it. As far as I know they all glow like that.

They only glow when at idle, if it glows all the time it's to lean.
The 06, comes to lean right from the factory, to pass emissions.
